PRR 9841, EFP-15, 1955 |
Description: |
Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred R. Kern that was taken at the Brick Yard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 23 July 1955. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9841 and two more units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9841 is an EFP-15 constructed in May of 1952. In this context, this A-B-A set is pulling a mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. ("Tchowee"; #29 of 40) |

PRR 9841, EFP-15, 1956 |
Description: |
Elmira. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken at NEWBERRY Tower in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on 19 August 1956. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9841 and four more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #9841 is an EFP-15 built in May of 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. Looks to me like three "EF" Class units have "rescued" a seven-car passenger train with its two disabled "EP" Class units. ("Stoneborobranch"; #32 of 34) |
