PRR Juniata E&M Shop Yard, 1966 |
| Description: |
E&M Yard. Here is an original photo that I took at the Juniata E&M Shop Yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in April of 1966. Shown here is a view to the right of the trusty turntable. Visible are dozens of locomotives in various states of repair: from work almost finished to being cannibalized. Many makes and models are represented; here's a sample. In the foreground is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8916, an AS-16MS built by the American Locomotive Company in April of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966. Behind it is PRR engine #9616, an AF-16 built by ALCo in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966. And beyond it is PRR engine #8912, an AS-16MS built by ALCo in April of 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. |
