InnoTrans is the world's largest trade fair focused on the rail transport industry. It is held every two years at the Messe Berlin exhibition centre, which has outdoor standard gauge railway sidings which4can be used to exhibit railway vehicles. 126,110 trade visitors from 140 countries came to find out about the latest products and services lrom the global rail industry, exhibited by 2,515 companies from 49 countries. Informatiol by manufacturers, operators and Wikipedia.
A full-size mock-up of Trenitalia's forthcoming ETR 1000 Frecciarossa EMU was shown at InnoTrans fair. The ETR 1000 is based on Bombardier's Zefiro platform, and represents the first order for the V300 variant. The eight-car trains will be capable of reaching 400 kph on 25kV AC lines, and will raise the commercial speed of Trenitalia's high-speed services to 360 kph.
Optmized for Very High Speed operation at 380 kph, the AVRIL shows a cutting-edge technology design.
Talgo, Spain, has created the very high-speed platform Avril (Light High-Speed Independent Wheel). It reaches speed of 380 kph. It will be produced for 3 different railway gauges with variable gauge as option, traction system designed for 4 voltages, capacity for 500 seats and 600 seats in high density configuration.

"Smart Engineering" seems to be latest innovation: Take your smart phone and a yardstick, take pictures and send it to your (Asian) construction office.
PESA of Poland presented for the first time their Gama-platform. For last mile operation it can add an additional, CAT C15 combustion engine. Pesa offers a multi-system AC/DC electric as well as a diesel-electric version. The first unit built, 111Ed-001 is a four-axle version for 3kV DC with 5600 kW and with a diesel for shunting.
The first class 381 of the Slovenian operator ZSSK was presented by Skoda on the 2012 InnoTrans at Berlin. ZSSK has so far two units ordered.
With the 109E Czech Skoda has for the first time built a top speed locomotive, class 380 of 200 kph, which is compatible with both AC and DC. 20 unit are operating with Czech CD and two units with Solvenian ZSSK. The ZSSK units are for 160 kph only and are named class 381.
Another new class of multi purpose engines were presented from ZNLE, a division of Polish NEWAG group. Altogether 7 variants are planned, with E4MSU (electric, 4-axle, multi-system, universale) the first model shown at InnoTrans.
The Vectron 170 is a 3-kV-DC model and was already used by DB Schenker Polska and to PKP Intercity division for commercial test operations. Since middle of September 2012 Siemens has all homologation for this, 5200 kW medium power unit, for Poland.
This class 192 Vectron is AC - high power 6400 kW - 200 kph version with a 180 kW diesel engine for last mile operation.
Bombardier presented its Traxx DE 'Multi-Engine' diesel with four heavy-duty industrial diesel engines with 540 kW each. Bombardier Transportation and DB Regio AG have signed a nine-year frame contract for 200 class 245 units. Out of it a first order of 20 locomotives resulted recently. First delivery is planned for mid 2013.
The EUROLIGHT is the new diesel-electric locomotive designed by Vossloh Rail Vehicles for market niches where low axle loads, with less than 20t weight per axle, are a must. This four-axle diesel-electric locomotive is produced with two different power ratings. It allows the operator a choice between two Caterpillar engines: CAT C175-16 (2,800 kW) and CAT C175-12 (2,300 kW).
Tülomsas presented, as license from GE, the first unit for German operator HHPI. GE Powerhaul class PH37ACai is aimed for continental European operator. It has a power output of 2750 kW. Heavy Haul Power International is an EU railway undertaking based in Germany and specialises in long term transport, particularly in the coal sector.
The Vectron DE is an all-round environmentally friendly locomotive, thanks to features such as the diesel engine certified under EU97/IIIB, the low noise emissions and its energy-saving design. This model is 1 m longer than its electrical counterparts and can be ordered with 2,0 or 2,2 or 2,4 MW output.
From Czeck CZ Loko brought the new diesel-electric locomotive for shunting and light mainline duties to Berlin. It has an asynchronous traction motors and a 1 MW 3508C engine meeting the european IIIA emissions standards.
Stadler Rail rail developed a new platform for shunting engines. The Eem923 Hybrid is based on the electric-only Ee922 used by SBB's passenger division. It can run at up to 100 kph on 15 kV and 25 kV lines, a maximum of four units can operate together. It also has an 360 kW auxiliary diesel engine for non-electrified sidings. For push-pull operation of line freight services at both end can be a Eem 923. Other versions are for DC and on battery operation.
In the form of its DE 12 and DE 18, Vossloh is supplying as from 2012 four-axle diesel-electric locomotives engineered for shunting and mainline duties: the DE 12 with 1,200 kW and the DE 18 with 1,800 kW. Future innovations such as hybrid drive and energy storage systems are also possible on the diesel-electric DE12/18
The G 6 is the new triple-axle shunting locomotive family of Vossloh: G6 DE with single engin of 350 or 700 kW, G6 ME with two engines of 350 kW, G6 Hybrid with one 350 kW diesel and a battery and G6 BAT with two batteries.
