BNSF 9393
Title:  BNSF 9393
Description:  It almost seemed surreal at this point that the main portion of the trip was over. My youth group would be landing at home late that evening, but I would only venture about 120 miles further east into Iowa, overlaying at the Quality Inn in Creston before hitting the road once again. The original goal for this day was to get onto the east side of Lincoln and maximize my time on the Creston Subdivision. But, the Ravenna Sub had impressed me thoroughly enough that I decided to hang out west of Lincoln first instead of east. And, that ended up being the right choice. Thanks to the helpful insights of a few local railfans via Messenger, I was guided to the 40th Street overpass which overlooks the west end of BNSFs massive Lincoln terminal. Fueling racks for westbound coal trains are located here, so there was already plenty of action once I arrived. However, when I got parked at the bottom of the overpass, my camera started to act wonky on me. It wouldnt turn on, and I couldnt seem to find the issue. While that was happening, an eastbound coal train slipped into the yard. As it turned out, my battery pack was not tightened on very well, which was the issue. So even though I missed the head end of the train, I was able to get up to the bridge in time to photograph the rear units. Mornings from the overpass can be a bit tricky unless its cloudy. But, backlighting doesnt bother me too much. Already things were beginning to look like they were off to a great start!
