So what is the saddest thing about this photo: the sorry condition of the once proud red-brick Belleville, IL L&N depot, the shabby weed-grown tracks, the shabbier GP38-2, the fact that both the locomotive and caboose have been stripped of all thier L&N markings, or the fact that the local is a third of the way into its run and has ZERO cars in tow??? Things were surely winding down for this line... |
