GCRR 3 Truck Shay #1925 - Graham County RR
Title:  GCRR 3 Truck Shay #1925 - Graham County RR
Description:  Lima Locomotive Works built this 3 truck Shay in February of 1925 for the Graham County RR. It handled the lumber and logging operations out of Snowbird Mountains. After the logging ended in 1948, it was used for a tourist train under the name Bear Creek. Eventually when the tourist train ended and the rails taken up by 1987, the loco was donated to the North Carolina Transportation Museum. It was stored until a 1998 overhaul put it back in operation. Eventually it was shut down in 2005 due to necessary boiler work. This is an image from a color slide taken by Doug Boyd.
