SOO 4-6-0 #2653 was originally built in December of 1900 as WC #255 by Brooks before it joined the ALCO group. The loco was renumbered WC 2653 in 1909 and eventually slid over to the Soo Line roster. It was retired sometime in the later 1940's or early 1950's after diesel took over many of the duties. Specifics - serial #3710, nee-WC #255, class E-25, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 20x26" cylinders, engine weight of 158,000 lb, tractive effort of 31,018 lb. No date or location was given for the photo but the photo was taken by Leslie Truesdel. |
