Description: |
The signal here at MP 187 was a pair of targets til the PTC upgrade. They made for a better photo. |

Coal trains all have DPUs, so I moved north of the feed mill to get this shot of the three rear units as they pushed south. |

The sun was beginning to set on another day, but I still had one more CP train that looked like it might come through in daylight. CP 9-781, a stack/rack combo of extra traffic from the CP 180 hotshot was all ready to go at the Ottumwa Yard with a new crew, but was having issues with their consist. They were eventually able to figure out the problems, and they got a light across the BNSF and came north. I chose a shot of the train crossing the wooden trestle over Harrows Creek Road and Creek as the two KCS motors slowly brought their train up Rutledge Hill. While it was definitely quite a bit slower today, I had a ton of fun following this next section of the Burlington. and getting quite a bit of traffic on the Milwaukee Road at the end of the day as well. A total of 16 trains today, bringing the trip total up to 128. Definitely not the 38 moves I got the day before, but I definitely picked up some more quality moves and shots today that I am quite happy with! I concluded my day with a nice sit-down steak dinner at Applebees just down from the hotel, and another peaceful nights sleep at the very nice Holiday Inn Express. Into Illinois tomorrow! |
