PRR 2219, EF-22, 1963 |
| Description: |
24th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 October 1963. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2219, #7008, #7147, and #7230. All were built by GM-EMD. #2219 is an EF-22 built in March of 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #7008, #7147, and #7230 are EFS-17M's rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7008 was built in October of 1955, #7147 in October of 1957, and #7230 in October of 1959. They've just come down the eastern slope of the Allegheny Mountains with a TrucTrain, and are now passing SLOPE Tower on their way through Altoona non-stop to Enola. Partially visible in the background is the 24th Street Bridge. Wave to the Engineman! |
