Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2006 and two more "BF" Class units whose road numbers are not recorded. #2006 is a BF-16 constructed by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in August of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, this A-B-A trio is approaching the Brick Yard Crossing with a mixed-cargo freight train on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. |

Tipton. Here is an original photo that I took in Tipton, Pennsylvania, on 5 January 1964. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2006 and 9736-B. Both are BF-16's built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #2006 was constructed in May of 1951 and retired in July of 1966, but #9736-B was built in March of 1951 and retired at the same time. They're pulling a 36-car mixed-cargo freight train from Enola to Altoona along with cabin car #477700. |
