PRR 7256, EFS-17M, 1967 |
| Description: |
Mid-Mountain. Here is an original photo that I took just West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, in mid-December of 1967. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #7256, #2656, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #7256 is an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in November of 1959 and rated at 1,750 horsepower, while #2656 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in December of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They're pulling a mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. Note Milepost 240 at the far left. |
