PRR 9536, EF-15, 1964 |
| Description: |
17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 April 1964. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9536, #9782, and #9821. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9536 is an EF-15 built in September of 1948 and retired in April of 1965. #9782 and #9821 are EF-15A's. #9782 was built in February of 1951; #9821 was built in May of 1951 and retired in December of 1967. In this context, they're about to pass under the 17th Street Bridge with a 64-car TrucTrain bound for Enola and points East. The cabin car is #477897. Partially visible at the left is ALTO Tower. |
