17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 April 1964. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2230, #7044, #2208, and #2219. All were built by GM-EMD. #2230, #2208, and #2219 are EF-22's and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #2230 was built in April of 1963, while #2219 and #2208 were built in March of 1963. #7044 is an EFS-17M built in December of 1955 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. They're passing under the 17th Street Bridge with a 48-car merchandise freight on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. The cabin car is number #477714. |
