This is a rare and very interesting photo of Gulf, Mobile & Northern 2-10-0 decopod #261. This great looking loco was built by Baldwin in 10/1925 The class was converted from coal burning to oil burning. This loco was retrofitted with a second sand dome and a Coffin feedwater heater, often referred to as a "cobra hood" in the front. Original Specs - serial #59610, class 250, 57" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure, 25x30" cylinders, engine weight of 253,730 lb, tractive effort of 62,911 lb. This is an R.P.Morris photo |
