SLSF 4-6-4 #1065 - St Louis-San Francisco (Frisco) |
Description: |
Here is another 4-6-4 Hudson that started out as a 1917 Baldwin built SLSF 4-6-2 #1065. The West Springfield Shops rebuilt the loco in 1937 to SLSF 4-6-4 1065. A cosmetic update featured a wide valence above the running gear on both sides that had "The Frisco Lines" enclosed in a long red diamond. Its tender was also emblazoned with similar livery, except that the red diamond embraced the engine's number. Later it would be removed as the loco aged. The scrapper's torch took care of this loco in January of 1952 Hudson.specs - serial #45511, 74" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure, 26x28" cylinders, engine weight of 360,960 lb, tractive effort of 48,919 lb. This is a Arthur B. Johnosn photo. |
