| Description: |
Norfolk & Western 2-8-8-2 #2057 sits quietly in the Crewe, VA yard like a sleeping giant. Built by Alco-Richmond in march of 1923 (serial #64077, Y-3a class) as NW #2057, this loco was a heavy hitting powerhouse for long drags of coal cars in the Virginia area. The loco served well until meeting up with the scrapper's torch in February of 1959 having been replaced by diesel power. Specs - 58" drivers, super impressive 270 psi boiler pressure, 25x32" high pressure cylinders, 39x32" low pressure cylinders, massive engine wt of 539,000 lb and equally massive tractive force of 114,154 lb.
