Dark side
Title:  Dark side
Description:  Normally I shoot this from the lit side, which has a good view in a tele shot of the train streteched out into the next curve south of town. This time I decided to go for the nose lit, but dark side of the train. It would be more effective if there wasnt so much clutter, as I could work the station/museum into the photo without a pole in front of it. This does have the advantage of allowing me a quick getaway, as I dont have to let the whole train pass before resuming the chase, though hed meet a southbound at Dorsey, just to the north, and Id get him anyway.

Description:  There was just a big enough gap between traffic which allowed me to check into the Holiday Inn Express in town where I would be staying the night. However, it was right in, right out as I knew I had more trains coming. When I was getting ready to walk out of the hotel back to the tracks, there was a CP 2-260 passing the cam near Rutledge with a sole KCSM GEVO. I drove down to the yard lead to get a telephoto shot of them crossing the Des Moines River.

Description:  Along with the river bridge, an old MILW searchlight is located here as well, serving as the distant signal for the diamond with the BNSF in town. The conductor would step out of the cab and climb down to throw the yard switch here before the train would proceed into the yard to tie up.
