PRR 9847, EFP-15, 1965 |
Description: |
8th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 14 February 1965. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9682 and #9847. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9682 is an EF-15A built as an EH-15 in February of 1949, later regeared and reclassified as an EF-15A, and retired in November of 1965. #9847 is an EFP-15 built in May of 1952. In this context, they're passing under the 8th Street Bridge into the Westbound Receiving Yard with 100 empty coal cars and N-8 cabin car #478213. Immediately to the right of these tracks is ROSE Tower (not shown). |
