iThis distant shot shows Milwaukee Road boxcar #54380 sitting in the Milwaukee yard. The "DF" on the door stands for "damage free", a term used by Milwaukee for cars that had special restraining harnesses to hold loads from shifting during transit and possibly being damaged. Some DF boxcars even had cushioned underframes to help with smooth transpot. Richard "Dick" Berry took the photo and this image comes from his original negative now iin my collection. |
