DH Business Car #200 - Delaware & Hudson
Title:  DH Business Car #200 - Delaware & Hudson
Description:  Caught on a fan trip is Delaware & Hudson business car #200 with the open rear platform. From some online sources, this car can be traced back to its wooden construction in 1893 and at least 3 rebuilds in 1904, 1927 and 1940 which upgraded it to the current steel sided car here. Delaware & Hudson business car #200 refers to a heavyweight Pullman observation car that was originally New York Central business car #7, then Penn Central business car #7, and later leased to Ross Rowland's High Iron Company. It was used as part of the American Freedom Train in 1973, initially under the name "Splendid Spirit" and later as "American Freedom Train". It was also part of the Chessie Steam Special roster as High Iron Company #200. No photographer was listed for this color slide.
