CB&Q 83667
Title:  CB&Q 83667
Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 83667 at Cicero, Illinois on an unknown day in January 1981, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in 1962 by CB&Q's Haveock, Nebraska shops, this car is wearing the pre-merger green paint which replaced the original Chinese Red paint, indicating the car was probably shopped for repairs around 1969. What appears to be dirt in the sky in the upper right of the photo are pigeons (locally known as flying rats) that have been rousted from their lunch. As grain cars rolled down the hump, they would sometimes spill some of their contents when they coupled with standing cars. This provided free lunch service for the birds until the next rolling car made contact with the standing cars causing the birds to become airborne circle around and land back at the lunch counter.
