Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in mid-May of 1966. Shown here is one Pennsylvania Railroad engine whose road number is not visible and another numbered "7144." Both were built by GM-EMD. #7144 is an EFS-17M built in June of 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. They are pulling a mixed-cargo freight arond the Curve and down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. In the foreground, note TrailerTrain flatcar #600975. |
