GENERAL LAFAYETTE was a Pullman Plan 9526 parlor car built by Budd in December 1951 as Pennsylvania Railroad 7131. It had 29 parlor seats and a drawing room, and was one of 16 such cars built for service on the SENATOR and CONGRESSIONAL. The cars subsequently received a food service galley, and retained their same numbers on the Penn Central. Amtrak subsequently remodeled it into 46-seat lounge 3324 in 1976, and was later rebuilt into HEP lounge 3123. After retirement, the car went to an emergency response training facility in Mississippi. (approximate month) |
