PRR 5809, EP-22, 1966
Birmingham. Here is an original photo that I took near Union Furnace, Pennsylvania, on 16 April 1966. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5809 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #5809 is an EP-22 built in January of 1951 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. They're pulling an eastbound mail & express train. Photo taken where the three-track mainline bridges the Little Juniata River west of the stone quarry crossing, just off of State Route 453.
