PC 2256, GP35, 1968
Birmingham. Here is an original photo that I took near Union Furnace in May of 1968. Shown here (L to R) are Penn Central engine #2256 and Southern Pacific Railroad engine #4068. Both were built by GM-EMD. #2256 is a GP35 built in May of 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #4068 is a GP20 built in March of 1962 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. They're pulling a westbound autorack train. Lots of new Chrysler products on-board! Also visible at the far right are my Penn State geology buddies George Howorth and John "Rob" Powanda. (Many thanks to Mr. James Taylor for identifying the Southern Pacific unit!)
