PRR 8836, AS-16M, 1966
Waters. Here is an original telephoto view that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in mid-February of 1966. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8836, an AS-16M built by the American Locomotive Company in November of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in January of 1967 after just 16 years of revenue service. Photo taken adjacent to the East Altoona Locomotive Ready Tracks and Juniata's 17th Street Bridge.
