| E&M Yard. Here is an original photo that I took at the Juniata E&M Shop Yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 10 August 1963. Shown here is a view even further to the right of the trusty turntable. Visible are dozens of locomotives in various states of repair: from work almost finished to being cannibalized. Many makes and models are represented. Visible on the same track to the left are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5850 and #7071. #5850 is an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in August of 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. #7071 is an EFS-17M built by EMD in October of 1956, rated at 1,750 horsepower, and retired in September of 1964. |
