| 24th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 29 November 1964. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2249, #2290, and #2224. All were built by GM-EMD. #2249 and #2224 are EF-22's and are rated at 2,250 horsepower each; #2249 was built in May of 1963 while #2224 was built in April of 1963. #2290 is an EF-25 built in June of 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They've just come down the eastern slope of the Allegheny Mountains with a 73-car TrucTrain, and are about to pass under 24th Street Bridge on their way through Altoona non-stop to Enola. |
