12th Street. Here is an original photo that I took at the Passenger Station in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in March of 1966. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6311, an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in November of 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower. It's pulling a special cargo freight train past the Station on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. Visible in the background are three of the original PRR 12th Street Car Shop buildings. |
