| MNCR. Here is an original photo that I took in Larchmont, New York, on 15 July 1985. Shown here (L to R) is Metro-North Commuter Railroad engine #2014 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Both are FL-9 "electro-diesels" built by GM-EMD. #2014 was built as New Haven number "2041" in October of 1960, rated at 1,800 horsepower, and later renumbered MNCR "2014." In this context, they're pulling an early-morning express train through Larchmont to Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Note the "New Haven" style catenary, later replaced by plethora of pulleys and weights. |
