Description:  Caltrain 916 brings up the rear of northbound train #229 as it traverses the north end throat tracks at San Jose Diridon. 916 was built in 1985 by EMD, and was one of the last units delivered with an SP-style light package on the front. The grya-light was removed by 2000, when the unit was rebuilt into a F40PH-2CAT.

Description:  Caltrain 916 leads a southbound train #228 into track 5 at San Jose Diridon. 916 was built in 1985, and is leading a set of bi-level gallery cars from the same era. 916 and the gallery cars are serving out their last months of service, as new electric trainsets from Stadler are due to arrive beginning in 2022. The electrics will run on the new caternary system above the throat tracks, which has been constructed along the entire peninsula over the past two years.
