PRR 1421, EF-15, 1966 |
| Description: |
Chicago. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Chicago, Illinois, in October of 1966. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1421 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #1421 is an EF-15 built as EH-15 number "9684" in February of 1949, later regeared and reclassified as an EF-15, renumbered "1421" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger, and retired in December of 1966 after just 17 years of revenue service.
