Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 2-8-2 Class O-1-A 5071, date, location, and photographer unknown, print by Tom Klinger, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 5071 was built by Baldwin in June 1917 (c/n 45759) and retired in April 1954. According to the CB&Q Locomotive Assignment Sheet dated February 1, 1952, number 5071 was assigned to the McCook Division. Note there is a hose strung from the tender to the second car in the consist. The hose is connected to a spigot at the bottom rear of the tender, used for cooling overheated journal bearings with water. |
