PRR 2357, EF-25, 1965 |
| Description: |
Brickyard. Here is an original photo that I took at the Brickyard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 18 July 1965. At the right (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6307 and #6302. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They're serving as tail end pushers for a 68-car mixed-cargo freight train on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where the pushers will be uncoupled and returned to East Altoona for further assignment. At the left (R to L) are PRR engines #2357, #2535, #7112, and #7033. #2357 is an EF-25 built by GM-EMD in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They're pulling ~ or, rather, braking ~ an 83-car mixed-cargo freight train down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. The cabin car is PRR #477031. That's the Brickyard Crossing in the foreground. |
