| Description: |
Here is the front side of a postal card that was published by Audio Visual Designs. Photo Credit: Carl H. Sturner. Photo Caption: "In the period after the merger of the New York Central and the Pennsylvania Railroad on February 1, 1968, there was some experimenting with the color scheme of the PC herald. The two units pictured here in Mechanicville, N.Y., show two of the test colors, commonly known as the 'red P' and the 'red C,' neither being really red. December 26, 1968." Shown here (L to R) are Penn Central engines #2650, #3184, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #2650 is a U25B built by General Electric as Pennsylvania Railroad number "2650" in November of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #3184 is a GP40 built by GM-EMD in October of 1968 and rated at 3,000 horsepower. "Mating Worms" galore! |
