N&W GP38AC 4133 at 18th Street in Chicago, Illinois on July 31, 1983, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This is the rear of the train, and I can only speculate on what is happening. Another GP38AC is on the other end (4102) pulling the train out of Union Station. I was expecting N&W 4-8-4 611, but got a GP38AC on each end of the train. Trains Magazine reported that there was a problem turning the loocomotive on the originally scheduled route to Decatur, so a trip was arranged on the C&NW instead. This MAY be a transfer move from Union Station to the C&NW. |
