Title:  CO 4-8-4 #614 - Chesapeake & Ohio
Description:  Interesting loco built by Lima nn June of 1948. Massive, powerful and commanding to say the least and a loco with nine lives. The unit would continue long after the other Greenbriers (4-8-4's to the C&O) were retired. It was a test loco for the American Coal Enterprise as they tried developing a coal burning steam locomotive that could compete with diesel loco on a>cost basis. Description:  The loco with "nine lives" is serving as the head end power of the Chessie Safety Special as caught by an unidentified photographer. The loco, built by Lima in June of 1948 also served as a test loco for the Americal Coal Enterprise experiments in developing new coal burning technologies. Today it is a static display at the C&O Heritage Center in Clifton Forge, VA, while awaiting restoration.
