PRR 2516, GF-25, 1965 |
| Description: |
Brickyard. Here is an original photo that I took at the Brickyard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 18 July 1965. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2516, #2329, and #2370. #2516 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in October of 1962 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2329 and #2370 are EF-25's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,500 horsepower each; #2329 was built in January of 1965 and #2370 was built in April of 1965. They are pulling a 68-car mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. The cabin car is PRR #477863. There're also two tail end pushers: PRR engines #6302 and #6307. |

PRR Juniata E&M Shop Yard, 1966 |
| Description: |
E&M Yard. Here is an original photo that I took at the Juniata E&M Shop Yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in April of 1966. Shown here is the trusty turntable on the left. Beyond it are dozens of locomotives in various states of repair: from work almost finished to being cannibalized. Many makes and models are represented. Visible in the foreground is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2329, an EF-25 built by GM-EMD in January of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. Further back is PRR engine #7259, an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in November of 1959 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. Brush Mountain dominates the distance. |
