| Description: |
17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 26 June 1965. Prominent here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2298, #2306, and #2275. All are EF-25's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #2298 and #2306 were built in November of 1964, while #2275 was built in June of 1964. They're about to pass under Juniata's 17th Street Bridge with a 95-car iron ore train with cabin car #477467. Visible at the far right are the East Altoona Roundhouse (foreground) and the East Altoona Coaling Tipple (background). Otherwise, the photo shows dozens and dozens of deadlined locomotives (at the right) and rolling stock (at the left). |
