PRR 9808, EF-15A, 1965 |
| Description: |
Rainy. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 October 1965. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9808 and #7050. Both were built by GM-EMD. #9808 is an EF-15A built in April of 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. #7050 is an EFS-17M built in October of 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. They're passing directly in front of the Passenger Station with a 110-car train of empty hopper cars on its way up the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains to the coal mines of Western Pennsylvania. Partially visible in the background is the wrought-iron 12th Street Footbridge. (#12 of 21) |
