PRR 8575, ES-15M, 1966
Title:  PRR 8575, ES-15M, 1966
Description:  4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in April of 1966. Shown here are eight Pennsylvania Railroad freight trains parked in the Altoona Yards, all awaiting crews so that they can begin climbing the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. Prominent at the left (L to R) are PRR engines #7210 and #7196-B. Both are EFS-17M's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7210 was built in November of 1957, while #7196-B was built in December of 1957. Visible at the far right is PRR engine #8575, an ES-15M built by GM-EMD in September of 1953 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. It's leading four other locomotives and a cabin car out of the Yard. PRR Passenger Car Shops occupy the background. Photo taken from the 4th Street Footbridge.
