With its name and number lined out, this beefy 0-8-0 now sits in the scrap line when the photo was taken. It very well may be the last photo ever taken of this hard working unit. Built by Alco-Schenectady in 1930, it lasted into the 1950's but no final disposition is known currently - presumedly scrapped sometime in the 1950's. Specs - serial #68443, class C-16. 52" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, wngine wt of 240,000 lb and tractive effort of 57,200 lb. This is an R.D. Patton photo. |
