					| Description: | Brickyard. Here is an original photo that I took at the Brickyard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 18 July 1965. At the left (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6306 and #6303. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each; they're returning to East Altoona after helping or pushing a train up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin. At the right (L to R) are PRR engines #2534, #2247, and #7163. #2534 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in February of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2247 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in May of 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #7163 is an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in October of 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. They're pulling ~ or, rather, braking ~ a 43-car merchandise freight train down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. The cabin car is N-8 #478032. |
