Album Info:I usually make a visit to the railroad area of my hometown whenever I am traveling through. On this particular Saturday afternoon there was a crowd gathered in the Basic City area along the former N&W tracks (Now NS Roanoke District) near the intersection with the former C&O (Now Buckingham Branch RR Richmond and Alleghany Division). I joined the crowd and turned on my scanner. The BB and NS crews were guiding something large and slow from the BB tracks to the NS tracks headed north toward Shenandoah. Slowly the Greenbrier 614 steam locomotive emerged and cameras clicked and videos rolled. It turned out the historic engine and cars were being transported from the C&O Railway Historical Center in Clifton Forge, Virginia to Strasburg, Pennsylvania. Needless to say, I am glad I stopped.
