PRR 5760, EP-22, 1966
Title:  PRR 5760, EP-22, 1966
Description:  12th Street. Here is the second of five successive original photos that I took at the Passenger Station in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in March of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5842, a unit whose road number is not recorded, and #5760. All were built by GM-EMD. #5842 is an EP-20 built in August of 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower, while #5760 is an EP-22 built in November of 1952 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. They've stopped at the Station with a westbound passenger train. Both engine and train crews are changed during the stop, and passengers are discharged and boarded. Visible in the distance is the 17th Street Bridge and three other PRR locomotives; the one in the middle is engine #6513 ~ which will serve as this train's helper up the Allegheny Mountains.

PRR 6513, GF-25A, 1966
Title:  PRR 6513, GF-25A, 1966
Description:  12th Street. Here is the third of five successive original photos that I took at the Passenger Station in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in March of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6513 and #5842. #6513 is a GF-25A built by General Electric in December of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower, while #5842 is an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in August of 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. In this context, #6513 is being coupled with #5842 to help pull the passenger train up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin ~ whereupon #6513 will be uncoupled and returned to Altoona for further assignment. Note the Railroader on the other side of the tracks, who will couple all of the necessary hoses.
