NYC 4-8-2 #3000 - New York Central         
Alco-Schenectady built this Mountain type steam locomotive in October of 1940 as NYC 4-8-2 #3000 (serial #69337). It was a powerful member of the NYC roster and served for only 17 years before being replaced by diesels. The loco was retired in April of 1957 and presumedly scrapped. Originla specs - 69" drivers, impressive 250 psi boiler pressure, 25.5x30" cylinders, engine wt of 388,500 lb and tractive force of 60,000 lb. This is an ALCo-Schenectady builder's photo.
