| Tyrone. Here is an original photo that I took in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, on 15 May 1965. Shown here (F to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5889 and three more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #5889 is an EP-22 built in April of 1950 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. They're pulling a 43-car mail & express train (with "Railway Express" N-5 cabin car #5010) through the Tyrone Station on its way to Altoona and points West. Part of the original Station building is visible at the upper left. Photo taken from the Pedestrian Overpass. |
