Mid-Mountain. Here is an original photo that I took just West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, in mid-June of 1966. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9797 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9797 is an EF-15A built in March of 1951. This A-B-B set is pulling a mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. |
