| Mid-Mountain. Here is an original photo that I took just West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, in mid-June of 1966. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6311, #6056, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #6311 is an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in November of 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower, while #6056 is an EF-30A built by GM-EMD in February of 1966 and rated at 3,000 horsepower. They're serving as tail end pushers on a mixed-cargo freight train heading up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where they'll be uncoupled and returned to East Altoona for further assignment. |
