Mid-Mountain. Here is an original telephoto view that I took just West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, in mid-June of 1966. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9837 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #9837 is an EFP-15 built in April of 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They're pulling a mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains and are about to pass under Signal Bridge #2397/6. Clear Board Ahead! |
